Swim, camp, training - here's what parents around the Triangle actually say about us.

My kids had been in traditional swim lessons for months (or years for our son) with very little progress before we decided to switch to private/semi private lessons with Lola. Within 3 lessons my son (who claimed he would never, ever, EVER put his face in the water) was jumping off the side of the pool independently and retrieving dive sticks from the bottom of the pool. I would completely recommend Lola's services. She is a highly skilled and caring instructor and my kids are consistently making progress. They both claim 'swim days' as their favorite days

Rebecca

Mom of 2 - Hillsborough

Lola is an amazing swim teacher! She knows how to challenge my daughter while also keeping things fun 🤩. Highly recommend

Debora

Mom of 4 year old

Lola is an amazing instructor who is truly passionate about what she does. My daughter absolutely loves working with her! She is kind, patient, and gives each student personalized attention. Her teaching techniques are excellent, and she is helping my daughter grow in both skill and confidence. We are so grateful for her dedication and care and we highly recommend her to anyone that is looking for a great instructor.

Mary

Mom of 5 year old

As the parent of a 4‑year‑old girl, I can confidently say that Lola is the best swimming teacher we could have hoped for. She is incredibly patient, and although my daughter was scared of the water at first, Lola helped her overcome that fear with kindness and encouragement. We feel very lucky to have found her as our daughter’s swimming teacher.

Yanyan

Parent of a 4‑year‑old girl

Lola is an excellent swimming instructor for my niece. She has only had three lessons so far and took to Lola very quickly. They have become best buds. She even gave her a nickname of encouragement which I loved. She assessed my niece early and then built on skills she already had. She is in a loving and encouraging environment. I would make no other choice than to have Lola give anyone swim lessons. My niece is six and absolutely loves it. Not only is she teaching water safety but she’s also teaching skills at a basic level and then putting all those skills together to make a great swimmer!

Parent questions

What ages does The Spot serve?
Summer camp is built for ages 5–12 and training clinics for grades K–8. Swim lessons are currently unavailable. Reach out via the contact page if you have an older athlete and we'll help find a fit.
Do you serve families outside of Hillsborough?
Yes — most of our families come from across the Triangle. We're a short drive for Chapel Hill, Durham, and Mebane families. Carpooling between weeks is common, especially during camp season.
When should kids start swim lessons?
Earlier is better for water safety — we work with kids from water-confident toddlers through competitive teens. Heads up: swim lessons are currently unavailable while we pause new bookings; check back soon.
What makes The Spot different from a recreation center?
Coaching standards, group size, and program design. Every session has a plan, not a schedule. Coaches are trained for the sport — not generalist staff filling shifts.
